Clinical anatomy is essential in medical training, providing the necessary knowledge for safe and effective clinical practice. This study reviews its importance, the challenges in teaching it, and its impact on patient safety. Despite advances in medical education, knowledge gaps in anatomy persist, underscoring the need for a comprehensive literature review. The review includes relevant studies from 2019 to 2024, such as those by Robinson Rodríguez and Ricardo J. Losardo at the University of Buenos Aires, highlighting the relationship between anatomical knowledge and patient safety, and Octavio Binvignat at the University of Concepción, emphasizing the integration of patient safety in anatomical training. Additionally, the CPS Bolivia Organization and Functions Manual stresses the importance of clear protocols to ensure safety in clinical interventions.
The aim of this document was to analyze the relevance of clinical anatomy as an essential foundation for patient safety and the challenges of studying it in modern medicine, identifying knowledge gaps to propose improvement strategies in teaching. The methodology combined an exhaustive literature review with a descriptive observational study based on surveys of medical students. The findings identified gaps in knowledge and the implementation of more effective teaching methodologies to ensure comprehensive medical training and patient safety.
