Abstract:
This article examines the process tracing method in the context of public policy. It explores its origins, variants, phases, scientific quality, strengths, and weaknesses. The study is based on a review of the most relevant literature that has explained or used this method. Process tracing is a valuable method for public policy evaluation, especially when seeking to understand causal mechanisms and evaluate intangible interventions. However, it is important to be aware of its limitations and use it appropriately. This study contributes to the literature on public policy evaluation by providing a comprehensive review of the process tracing method.
