Abstract

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is probably one of the most frequent medical conditions that
doctors have to face and it’s the first cause of death and nullity in childhood. A 10-years
old boy underwent 2 car accidents. In the first one he had an open sever TBI and his
main lesion was diffuse axonal injury plus basal skull fracture. In the second accident he
had a light – medium TBI with an epidural hematoma. WHO estimates that around the
world 100 children died every hour due to injuries, 90% of them are not intentional. The
child immatureness, his lack of experience and the imprudence of his age makes him an
easy target for accidents.
