Abstract

The research interest from the need to understand the psychological and social aspects of contraception in patients with mental disorders , reproductive age. Determine the psychosocial aspects of contraception in patients with mental disorders from the National Institute of Psychiatry Gregorio Pacheco, during 2012 and 2013 efforts.  Observational, analytical and cross-sectional descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The information was collected from data extracted from the medical record. The study populations are 57 patients with a diagnosis of mental illness, childbearing age between 15 to 49 years. To analyze the information one standard deviation of 0.3% is established. Furthermore, taking into account the rules of bioethics. In relation to age is between 26 and 35 with 50.9 %, from the urban area of Sucre 52.6 % in terms of marital status 66 % are single. Regarding the diagnosis 45, 6 % are between F20 (schizophrenia) and F29 (unspecified nonorganic psychosis). As for combination drug therapy is 85.7 % and with respect to the relative support is inadequate 94.7%. 24.6% have a history of sexual abuse. 91% do not use birth control. 48% have children, pampering living with both parents and / or extended family
