Abstract

The opium is a substance mixture which is extracted by opium poppy’s green capsule (paper somniferum), that contains narcotic and analgesic drugs called morphine and other alkaloids.

The opium (similar to common poppy) it’s a plant which can end growing up a meter and half. That emphasizes their white, violet and fuchsia flowers.

It is an annual plant that its cycle can begin in autumn, although habitual thing in the north hemisphere is starting in January. Depending to latitude it booms between April and June, is a moment in which you can proceed opium gathers up.

The term opium derives of Greek “opion” that means “juice” referring latex opium poppy’s segregation when cutting it.
