Objective: To identify knowledge about patient rights and its relationship with the quality of hospital care in the Internal Medicine Department of Santa Barbara Hospital, August 2024. Materials and methods: Descriptive research. The research method used was deductive, inductive, historical, statistical, analytical, and empirical. The sample consisted of 40 patients hospitalized in the Internal Medicine Department of Santa Barbara Hospital. Conclusions: The sociodemographic characteristics are as follows: of the 100% of patients hospitalized in the Internal Medicine Department, 40% are between 20 and 29 years old, 60% are female, 33% have a high school education level, 63% are from an urban area, and 70% speak Spanish. They have knowledge of their rights at an intermediate level, which represents 37.5%. Patients' perceptions of the quality of care received are classified as low at 37.5%. Analyzing the relationship between the level of awareness of patient rights and the perception of hospital care quality, patients who have only partial information or lack clear and precise information about their rights tend to be less able to claim or demand quality hospital care.Downloads
