MOBILE WALLETS, AN ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF PAYMENT FOR RETAILERS IN PANDEMIC

Abstract

Covid 19 forced a move to virtuality, acquiring a relevant role the use of virtual media such as digital wallets, to avoid interruptions in the economic exchange. The objective was to determine the impact of the inclusion of the use of mobile wallets as a means of payment, from the perspective of business owners of formal retail businesses in the province of Ica, during the year 2021. A sample of 385 entrepreneurs applied a questionnaire elaborated on some of the factors that measure the level of technology adoption. 64.9% of retail entrepreneurs had a positive attitude towards the use of mobile wallets, 57% are satisfied with their use, and recognize that it is an efficient and effective system. Mobile wallets are currently the alternative to advance towards global financial inclusion, where low-income people, located in underdeveloped areas, can opt to carry out their economic transactions.
