Abstract

This article on the importance of stimulating critical thinking from childhood arises from the following question: Why will it be important to promote critical thinking in children and adolescents, starting at school? The main objective of this article is to describe the importance of promoting critical thinking in children and adolescents, starting at school. For the development of this article, the method of bibliographic review and analysis-synthesis of concepts on critical thinking and education was adopted. For the state of the art and theoretical framework, scientific articles, texts by different authors and reports from international organizations were used. In conclusion, it is of utmost importance to stimulate, encourage and promote comprehensive reading and critical thinking in children and adolescents from school. Since, only better-trained men and women will be able to confront the phenomena of misinformation, technology, Artificial Intelligence and changes in the labor market of the future. This requires prompt reflection and review of educational laws that do not allow the development of critical thinking at an early age, a reflection by educational actors on the standard teaching paradigm, the time spent in class and the use of teaching materials.
