Abstract

This study investigated how nurses at the Sucre University Social Security Institute understand and apply informed consent. It was found that, although they recognize its importance, its use in practice is limited and often based on verbal agreements. The lack of a specific form for nursing procedures and the existence of other medical consent forms have hindered its implementation. The results suggest the need to develop a dedicated informed consent form for nursing, which would strengthen professional autonomy and ensure better protection of patients' rights.
