KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF NURSING STAFF ON AIRWAY MANAGEMENT OF UNIVERSITY SOCIAL SECURITY

The present Introduction: The present research work was carried out in order to determine the knowledge about the management of the airway of the nursing staff in the emergency service of the University Social Security, February 2025. Methods: The present investigation is descriptive, cross-sectional and observational with a quantitative approach and a survey of a sample of 12 nurses from the Emergency Service of the University Social Security was taken into account. Results: 41% of the nursing staff are between 25 and 34 years old, 58% of the nursing staff are graduates, 50% of the nursing staff have 6 to 10 years working in the University Social Security, 58% of the nursing staff received training on the airway. It is established that 42% of the nursing staff has knowledge about the concept of airway, 42% of the nursing staff use antimicrobial soap in the hand washing procedure, 58% use latex and nitrile gloves. Discussion: It is concluded by stating that nursing staff have good knowledge and practice regarding airway management, however, there are some nurses who still need to strengthen their functions to improve care in the emergency department.
