Abstract

Objective: To determine the knowledge of nursing staff on the initial management of polytraumatized patients in the emergency department of the University Social Security in the city of Sucre, February 2025.Method: Quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study with a population of 16 nurses from the emergency department of the University Social Security. Results: 50% of the nursing staff have "Regular" knowledge, 25% have "Good" knowledge and likewise 25% of the staff have "Poor" knowledge regarding the initial management of polytraumatized patients. Conclusions: The present investigation allowed to determine the existence of significant areas of improvement in the knowledge and the need for updating of the nursing staff in the initial management of the polytraumatized patient of the Emergency Service of the University Social Security of the city of Sucre.
