Abstract

A retrospective study aimed at identifying common pathologies in the neonatal service of San Antonio de los Sauces Hospital during the 2023 and 2024 periods. Through the analysis of the medical records of 614 newborns treated, it was found that neonatal jaundice was the most common pathology in 2023 (40%), while neonatal hyperbilirubinemia predominated in 2024 (45%). Neonatal sepsis remained the second cause of hospitalization in both periods, with 38% in 2023 and 33% in 2024. The majority of newborns required hospitalization for 1 to 4 days. No significant differences were found by gender (53% female, 47% male) in the 2023-2024 period.
