PATRÓN DE AUTOMEDICACIÓN PARA LA PREVENCIÓN Y TRATAMIENTO DE COVID-19 EN POBLACIÓN ADULTA, SUCRE 2021

Self-medication is a phenomenon that does not have a single particular
cause that produces it, but is the sum of a series of factors that cause it to
occur, constituting a public health problem, and intensifying during the
COVID-19 pandemic. 19. The objective of the study was to describe the
pattern of self-medication for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19
in the adult population of the city of Sucre. Descriptive, synchronous,
cross-sectional quantitative study, carried out with 1016 people, selecting
the sample through the snowball technique. The results show us that
60.14% of the population is between 31 and 60 years old, they are female
(55.31%) and students (32.68%). 78.1% of the population reported having
acquired some medication for the prevention and/treatment of the disease,
with 66% for personal reasons and in a pharmacy (74. (%). The most
purchased medications were NSAIDs (32.38 %), natural medicines
(13.39%), anti-flu (7.38%), antiparasitic (6.30%). It is concluded that the
prevalence of self-medication for the prevention and/treatment of
COVID.19 is high.
