Abstract

Raynaud’s phenomenon (RP) is an
episodic vasospastic disorder mainly
affecting acral extremities, characterized by a triphasic color change (pallor, cyanosis, erythema), triggered by
cold or stress. It may occur as a primary condition or in association with
connective tissue diseases, constituting secondary Raynaud’s Phenomenon (RP). Global prevalence ranges
from 3 to 5%, with higher frequency
among women and in colder climates.
In Bolivia, no recent epidemiological
studies have documented its frequency, so international data are extrapolated. This article seeks to summarize
the clinical relevance for the diagnosis of Raynaud’s phenomenon . The
following is the case of a 30-year-old
woman with polyarticular pain, paresthesias and discoloration of her hands
and diagnosed with Raynaud’s Phenomenon.
