ABSTRACT
Pregnancy is the period that passes from the fertilization of the egg by the sperm until delivery occurs. It lasts between 37 to 42 weeks. During this period there is the probability of developing diseases; which increases maternal-fetal mor- bidity and mortality, which is why strict care on the part of the mother is required to avoid anunexpected or adverse medical or obstetric condition (3).
The objective of the study is to identify the risk factors associated with diseases or compli- cations of pregnancy in pregnant women who attend the Leo Schwarz Comprehensive Health Center in the town of Muyupampa, in the de- partment of Chuquisaca from July to September 2023.
A descriptive observational study was carried out, with a quantitative approach, which in- cluded 73 pregnant women treated at the Leo Schwarz Comprehensive Health Center; The study instrument was the questionnaire and re- view of medical records.
The data obtained reported a predominant age of 26-30 years (30.14%), the majority of urban origin and stable marital status. 84.93% of preg- nant women attended more than 4 prenatal check-ups. It was determined that urinary tract infection was the disease with the highest pre- valence 28.7%, followed by anemia 15.07%.
The most frequently presented complications were: threatened abortion, hyperhemesis, and premature birth.
It was concluded that the risk factors associated with diseases and complications of pregnancy are: multiparity, extreme ages of the pregnant woman, reduced prenatal controls and lack of knowledge of danger signs.
